Smart Waste Management Using LoRa

AIM:

Design and Development of Smart Waste Management Using LoRa.

PURPOSE:

Waste Collection is important task for every city. We have lot of solutions with IOT but need internet connectivity in each garbage point. It is very difficult to provide internet and need daily maintenance. This will be solved with LoRa communication. LoRa is a wireless technology that can communicate to LoRa gateway even from long distances. In this proposed system, each garbage bin has LoRa transmitter and waste level measuring sensor. It will update waste level of garbage bin to LoRa gateway. LoRa gateway is at fixed location and can update data to IOT server. We can call this kind of system as a smart garbage bin. Because it has another IR sensor and when it will activate then bin cap will be open for dropping waste into bin. This entire solution will be implanted with Arduino and ESP32-Nodemcu. The project title is smart waste management using LoRa.

DESCRIPTION:

Garbage bin has Arduino and LoRa module. These two are connected to each other through SPI communication. Ultrasonic sensor (HC-SR04) and IR sensor connected to Arduino digital pins. LoRa Gate way has ESP32 nodemcu and LoRa module.

WORKING:

Arduino always reads ultrasonic sensor and IR sensor. Ultrasonic sensor placed inside the bin at the top of the cap. When waste material filled the bin, ultrasonic measuring value. IR sensor placed at outside of bin and when it will activate by anyone then cap will be open and close after some delay. Waste bin cap will be operated by DC gear motor. Arduino displays all this information on LCD and send to LoRa gateway. ESP32 nodemcu receives all information (LoRa gateway) and displays on LCD also it will send data to IOT cloud server. ESP32 Nodemcu has inbuilt WIFI module that can directly communicate with IOT cloud server.
